nVent Arizona expansion: nVent Electric plc has leased a 400,000 square foot manufacturing site in Goodyear, Arizona, in the Phoenix metro area, to build more engineered buildings, including prefabricated electrical houses, or e-houses, for power utility, data center and industrial customers. The company announced the site Tuesday morning and expects production to begin in mid-2027 with more than 200 employees once the plant is fully running (nVent via GlobeNewswire).

What Happened

nVent, which lists its principal office in London and its U.S. management office in Minneapolis, said the Goodyear lease adds capacity for its engineered buildings line, the factory built enclosures that house electrical equipment and ship to a project site as finished units (nVent via GlobeNewswire). The release describes the site as leased space rather than a new building, and it frames the move as a response to rising demand.

Sara Zawoyski, president of nVent Systems Protection, said in the announcement that demand is growing as customers invest in grid modernization and power reliability (nVent via GlobeNewswire). The company tied the products directly to utility, data center and other infrastructure work.

What Is Confirmed

Not yet known: the dollar value of the investment, the landlord or specific building, the firms handling any interior fit-out, and the hiring timeline. nVent did not disclose those details in its release (nVent via GlobeNewswire). This is a developing story.

Part of a Wider Capacity Push

Goodyear is the latest in a string of nVent plant expansions. The release says it follows an August announcement of a 58,000 square foot expansion in southeastern Kansas that is expected to create up to 60 skilled trade positions over the next year (nVent via GlobeNewswire). In Pittsburg, Kansas, where nVent builds power distribution centers and substations, city officials and nVent employees broke ground on an expansion in August (The Morning Sun).

In September 2025, nVent announced a 117,000 square foot, multi-part expansion of its plant in Eleanor, West Virginia, with more than 100 new manufacturing jobs and about 250 people on site once complete (nVent). That plant makes nVent TRACHTE large outdoor enclosures, which act as switchboards and uninterrupted power supplies and help manage power distribution for data centers, and Zawoyski said at the time that the enclosures play an important role in the AI infrastructure buildout (nVent).

The pattern matches other recent factory announcements tied to the power grid, including Niagara Power Transformer’s $71 million Cheektowaga expansion and Valmont’s $45 million transmission structures plant expansion in Tennessee.

What It Means for Owners and Contractors

For owners planning data center, utility and industrial projects, electrical gear is often one of the longest lead items on the schedule. Another 400,000 square feet of e-house production is a supply signal, but it will not add output until mid-2027 at the earliest, so projects buying equipment for 2026 and early 2027 delivery should not count on relief from this plant (nVent via GlobeNewswire).

Prefabricated electrical buildings also shift work off the jobsite. Instead of building an electrical room in the field, the general contractor sets a finished unit on a foundation and ties in power and controls. That puts more weight on early coordination of pads, crane access, conduit stub ups and delivery windows, and it makes the manufacturer’s shop schedule a direct driver of the project schedule. Electrical subcontractors should expect more of their scope on these jobs to be terminations and testing rather than room build out.

In the Phoenix area, a 200 job production plant in Goodyear adds to demand for industrial trades and fit-out work in the West Valley, though nVent has not said what improvements the leased space needs (nVent via GlobeNewswire).
