Westside Construction Group recently completed a complex trenching project for M/E Engineering, which involved the precise removal of concrete and hand digging to locate the sanitary sewer hub in the basement. This project required careful planning and execution due to the limited access and specific requirements of the site.
The primary objectives of this project were to:
The sanitary sewer hub was located in a basement area with restricted access, only reachable via two elevators and a loading dock situated 500 feet from the disposal site.
Solution: Our team coordinated meticulously to transport equipment and materials through the limited access routes. We used a propane core cut saw during after-hours to minimize disruptions and carefully managed the logistics of spoil removal and backfill material staging in the basement.
Removing the concrete and digging by hand in a confined space required precision and careful handling to avoid damaging existing structures and utilities.
Solution: Our skilled crew utilized advanced techniques and tools to remove the concrete accurately and hand dig to the required depth. The use of a propane core cut saw allowed us to cut through the concrete efficiently and safely.
Ensuring that the trench was properly backfilled and the concrete repaired to support new flooring installation was critical to the project’s success.
Solution: We backfilled the trench with stone staged in the basement, ensuring a solid and stable base. The concrete was then repaired using rebar and pins to provide the necessary support for the new flooring installation planned for later stages of the project.
